South Floridians will gather at the Holocaust Memorial in Miami Beach on Sunday evening to remember the Holocaust’s victims and honor survivors.

The Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Holocaust Memorial of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, 1933-1945 Meridian Avenue.

It will feature presentations by Holocaust survivor and Holocaust Memorial Chair Andrew Hall and by Fred Rosenkoff, a US Army veteran who was held in the Mauthausen Concentration Camp as a prisoner of war.

The memorial’s museum will host a presentation of eight paintings by Belgian artist and Holocaust victim Carol Deutsch, who painted biblical illustrations in 1940s Belgium in defiance of the Nazi regime that eventually killed him, according to the website of Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem that owns the paintings.

The program will also include musical performances by the Second Avenue Jewish Chorale and a candle-lighting ceremony.
