October 7 Unveiling
The Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach Became First Memorial in the World to Engrave the Names of Those Murdered on October 7
On Sunday, October 26 the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach Became First Memorial in the World to Engrave the Names of Those Murdered on October 7, during the Hamas Attacks on Israel, in Hebrew and English. Their names now stand beside those who came before — acknowledging their shared truth: that Jewish blood was once again shed simply because of who they were.
Holocaust survivors, and their descendants, stood together with an Israeli delegation of bereaved families and government officials, local leaders, and elected officials for the moving ceremony.
Omer Shemtov, a released hostage, shared an emotional call to action: “Remember their names.” His presence and his words carried a weight beyond measure — a survivor of our own time, standing before a Memorial to those who perished generations before.
The names inscribed in stone are declarations of permanence. A testament to the truth that Jewish suffering did not end with the Holocaust, and that the fight against hatred must never cease. They are reminders that memory is not passive. It is a commitment. “Never Again” cannot remain a slogan; it must be a moral imperative that demands vigilance, courage and love.
