The Hymn of the Partisans was first recited at a Yiddish literature event in the Vilna Ghetto in 1943 by 21 year-old poet and resistance fighter, Hirsch Glick. It was later set to the music of a prewar Soviet song written by Dmitri and Daniel Pokrass.
